Great Fall Weekend!!!

We had a great fall weekend weather wise here. Rachel is recovering from a sinus infection and Bob is recovering from a mild case of the flu. I have tried to stay far, far, away from them. Rachel played in her second volleyball game of the city tournament on Saturday and they won. Rachel had an awesome game. She is really a great player and team leader this year. They play on Tuesday in the semi-finals for the city. I would love to see them win the city tournament, because this is their last year of grade school volleyball. Next year will be a whole new level. We had a nice Chili Supper/Fall Festival at our church/school on Saturday night. I hope everyone has a good week. Happy Monday! Here are some pictures from Rachel's volleyball games.

Thank You!

“Prayer For The Children”
Ina Hughs
Newspaper Reporter for the Knoxville News
Author of the book: A Prayer For Children

We pray for the children who sneak Popsicles before supper, who erase holes in math workbooks, who can never find their shoes. And we pray for those who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire, who can't bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers, who never "counted potatoes," who never go to the circus, who live in an X-rated world.

We pray for children who bring us sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelions, who hug us in a hurry and forget their lunch money. And we pray for those who never get dessert, who have no safe blanket to drag behind them, who watch their parents watch them die, who can't find any bread to steal, who don't have any rooms to clean up, whose pictures aren't on anybody's dresser, whose monsters are real.

We pray for children who spend all their allowance before Tuesday, who throw tantrums in the grocery store and pick at their food, who like ghost stories, who shove dirty clothes under the bed, who never rinse out the tub, who get visits from the tooth fairy, who don't like to be kissed in front of the carpool, who squirm in church and scream in the phone, whose tears we sometimes laugh at and whose smiles can make us cry.

And we pray for those whose nightmares come in the daytime, who will eat anything, who have never seen a dentist, who aren't spoiled by anybody, who go to bed hungry and cry themselves to sleep, who live and move, but have no being. We pray for children who want to be carried and for those who must, who we never give up on and for those who don't get a second chance. For those we smother and...for those who will grab the hand of anybody kind enough to offer it.

The above picture was taken in San Francisco, from a mural painted behind a bus stop at Masonic and Page.

Happy Monday!!

Thanks for all the prayers for our daughter and granddaughter. They are both doing fine. Little Miss Carly is growing big and strong and this is giving her momma some growing pains as well. We had our little grandsons over the weekend. They kept all 4 of us busy. I don't know how Ashley does it. She is such a good mom. Rachel is starting her city volleyball tournament tomorrow night, they have a really good chance of winning the city tournament for their age group. Go Leopards!!!

Please Say a Prayer!!!

I am asking everyone to please say a prayer for my daughter that is pregnant. She is having some pains in her lower pelvic area and down her legs. She has been having this pain all day. She is on her way to visit the Labor/Delivery Unit at the hospital. She is only 28 weeks along. Please keep her and little Carly safe until her due date on January 31st.

TGIF!!

"A football coach walked into the locker room before a big game, looked over to his star player and said, "I'm not supposed to let you play since you failed math, but we really need you in there. So, what I have to do is ask you a math question, and if you get it right, you can play." The player agreed, so the coach looked into his eyes intently and asked, - "Okay, now concentrate hard and tell me the answer to this: What is two plus two?" The player thought for a moment and then answered, "4?" "Did you say 4?" the coach exclaimed, excited that he had given the right answer. Suddenly, all the other players on the team began screaming, "Come on coach, give him another chance!"

I hope everyone has a good Friday. I am so looking forward to the weekend. This has been a very busy week. I have worked 5 days in a row and that is very uncommon for me. My house is a wreck, laundry to do and my poor puppy dog thinks we have moved out. She is use to having me home with her a couple days a week to take long walks outside. I am so happy that I will have a few days off to catch up with everything. Enjoy the weekend!

Lord Hear Our Prayers!

Gracious God, in the busyness of my day, I sometimes forget to stop to thank You for all that is good in my life. My blessings are many and my heart is filled with gratefulness for the gift of living, for the ability to love and be loved, for the opportunity to see the everyday wonders of creation, for sleep and water, for a mind that thinks and a body that feels. I thank you, too, for those things in my life that are less than I would hope them to be. Things that seem challenging, unfair, or difficult. When my heart feels stretched and empty and pools of tears form in my weary eyes, still I rejoice that you are as near to me as my next breath and that in the midst of turbulence, I am growing and learning. In the silence of my soul, I thank you most of all for your unconditional and eternal love. Amen.

Happy Fall Everyone!

It is starting to feel alot like fall here. I love summer, but I am ready for fall. We almost have our home office finished. When we get it totally ready, I will upload a few pictures. We have been very busy this past week and weekend. Lots and lots of volleyball, which we love. Bob and I also have been working a lot lately. Everyone is gearing up for the H1N1. We have a few days at the end of the week for fall break from school. Rachel is going to be shadowing a couple of the girls high schools here. I can't believe that our baby girl will be in high school next year. It seems like yesterday, we brought her home from the hospital. Please continue to pray for my aunt, she is back in the hospital and they told the family that she is in End Stage Congestive Heart Failure. I pray that she can be comfortable and at peace.

Happy Tuesday and Thank God for your many Blessings!
