Happy Monday! Please say a prayer for our best friends Tony and Michele. Tony's father passed away suddenly on Friday. Bob and I made the trip up to northern Indiana yesterday to spend some time with Tony, Michele and Tony's family. It is going to be really hard for his mother. His parents have been married for 61 years and they did everything together. Please say a prayer for his mother, she is really afraid of being alone right now. The Mazzoni house has a lot of things going on right now. The new year 2010 has MANY changes ahead for us all. We are expecting our first granddaughter "Carly Brooke" in late January, Bob is changing his schedule at work, Rachel is getting ready to start playing in her new season of Mava volleyball and Michelle has MANY changes ahead of her. Please God watch over all of us. I am looking forward to the holidays and spending time with all my loved ones. I love to bake cookies at Christmas, the hard part is deciding which ones to make. Over the years, I have collected so many cookie recipes. I am an avid collector of cookbooks. I especially love ones put together by church groups or schools. My family has their family favorites, such as the "Egg" cookie. This is a cookie that Bob's grandmother made and his aunt Carmen passed on to me before she passed away several years ago. The whole family cannot get enough of them. They are like a meringue cookie. I must go for now. Have a good week.

Happy Thanksgiving Week!

This is my favorite week ever! I love the anticipation of the Turkey Dinner and fun with family and friends. It is a very busy week in the Mazzoni house. Menu planning, grocery shopping, house cleaning, school two days, work one day and lots of volleyball everyday. I really look forward to seeing all the family and friends. I wish all our family could be here, but sometimes that is not possible. Wherever you are, I hope you have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving Holiday. Thank you God for my MANY BLESSINGS!

Now Where is That Turkey?Turkey BlunderbusTurkey Blunderbuss

Two pilgrims go out hunting. One has two blunderbusses.

The second pilgrim asks, 'Why do you have two blunderbusses?'

The first pilgrim explains, 'I usually miss the first time I shoot. By taking two I can shoot again.'

The second pilgrim thinks for a while and then says, 'Why not just take the second one, and only shoot once?'

Six Legged TurkeySix Legged Turkey

An industrious turkey farmer was always experimenting with breeding, his mission was to produce the perfect turkey. His family was fond of the leg portion for dinner and there were never enough legs for everyone.

After many frustrating attempts, the farmer was relating the results of his efforts to his friends at the general store. 'Well I finally did it! I bred a turkey that has six legs!' They all asked the farmer how it tasted.

'I don't know, 'said the farmer, 'I never could catch it!'

Happy TURKEY Day!!!

Some more pictures of Rachel's Confirmation.

Happy Monday!!

We had a beautiful weekend. The weather was wonderful. Michelle and Jeremy went to the Marine's Ball in Lexington. They both looked beautiful. And Rachel made her confirmation yesterday. I am so proud of her, she looked so beautiful. She had her family there to watch her, Grandmother, Mamaw, Papaw and especially her big sister. She so looks up to her big sister. We had a great day. Please say a prayer for a good friend of mines father. They think he had a stroke, he is having a MRI tomorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and being with the family again soon. Thank God for your many blessing, I know I sure do everyday!

TGIF!!!!!!

The Mazzoni's have had a very busy and productive week. Rachel had volleyball tryouts 4 days in a row. She found out last night that she made the 14 elite team. That is the number one team in her age group. Her coach is the coach of the year for the state of Kentucky and his volleyball team won the state tournament last Sunday. They have won two years in a row. She will be playing for him next year as well in high school at Mercy Academy. Rachel has also been busy getting ready for her Confirmation in the Catholic Church on Sunday. Michelle my nineteen year old, who is in nursing school, got her first hospital job this week at Baptist East Hospital. I am so excited and happy for both of them. I am a very proud parent, they both have worked so very hard to achieve their goals. Bob has worked a lot this week with a new computer system at his job. I worked a couple of days this week. Everything is good. We thank God everyday for our good health and many blessings we have. Have a great fall weekend!

Wish her luck, she has been working very hard to be on the best team. I hope it works out for her. It was great to see a lot of old friends at tryouts yesterday. I am excited about the new season starting.

Great Fall Weekend!!!

We had a great fall weekend weather wise here. Rachel is recovering from a sinus infection and Bob is recovering from a mild case of the flu. I have tried to stay far, far, away from them. Rachel played in her second volleyball game of the city tournament on Saturday and they won. Rachel had an awesome game. She is really a great player and team leader this year. They play on Tuesday in the semi-finals for the city. I would love to see them win the city tournament, because this is their last year of grade school volleyball. Next year will be a whole new level. We had a nice Chili Supper/Fall Festival at our church/school on Saturday night. I hope everyone has a good week. Happy Monday! Here are some pictures from Rachel's volleyball games.

Thank You!

“Prayer For The Children”
Ina Hughs
Newspaper Reporter for the Knoxville News
Author of the book: A Prayer For Children

We pray for the children who sneak Popsicles before supper, who erase holes in math workbooks, who can never find their shoes. And we pray for those who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire, who can't bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers, who never "counted potatoes," who never go to the circus, who live in an X-rated world.

We pray for children who bring us sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelions, who hug us in a hurry and forget their lunch money. And we pray for those who never get dessert, who have no safe blanket to drag behind them, who watch their parents watch them die, who can't find any bread to steal, who don't have any rooms to clean up, whose pictures aren't on anybody's dresser, whose monsters are real.

We pray for children who spend all their allowance before Tuesday, who throw tantrums in the grocery store and pick at their food, who like ghost stories, who shove dirty clothes under the bed, who never rinse out the tub, who get visits from the tooth fairy, who don't like to be kissed in front of the carpool, who squirm in church and scream in the phone, whose tears we sometimes laugh at and whose smiles can make us cry.

And we pray for those whose nightmares come in the daytime, who will eat anything, who have never seen a dentist, who aren't spoiled by anybody, who go to bed hungry and cry themselves to sleep, who live and move, but have no being. We pray for children who want to be carried and for those who must, who we never give up on and for those who don't get a second chance. For those we smother and...for those who will grab the hand of anybody kind enough to offer it.

The above picture was taken in San Francisco, from a mural painted behind a bus stop at Masonic and Page.

Happy Monday!!

Thanks for all the prayers for our daughter and granddaughter. They are both doing fine. Little Miss Carly is growing big and strong and this is giving her momma some growing pains as well. We had our little grandsons over the weekend. They kept all 4 of us busy. I don't know how Ashley does it. She is such a good mom. Rachel is starting her city volleyball tournament tomorrow night, they have a really good chance of winning the city tournament for their age group. Go Leopards!!!

Please Say a Prayer!!!

I am asking everyone to please say a prayer for my daughter that is pregnant. She is having some pains in her lower pelvic area and down her legs. She has been having this pain all day. She is on her way to visit the Labor/Delivery Unit at the hospital. She is only 28 weeks along. Please keep her and little Carly safe until her due date on January 31st.

TGIF!!

"A football coach walked into the locker room before a big game, looked over to his star player and said, "I'm not supposed to let you play since you failed math, but we really need you in there. So, what I have to do is ask you a math question, and if you get it right, you can play." The player agreed, so the coach looked into his eyes intently and asked, - "Okay, now concentrate hard and tell me the answer to this: What is two plus two?" The player thought for a moment and then answered, "4?" "Did you say 4?" the coach exclaimed, excited that he had given the right answer. Suddenly, all the other players on the team began screaming, "Come on coach, give him another chance!"

I hope everyone has a good Friday. I am so looking forward to the weekend. This has been a very busy week. I have worked 5 days in a row and that is very uncommon for me. My house is a wreck, laundry to do and my poor puppy dog thinks we have moved out. She is use to having me home with her a couple days a week to take long walks outside. I am so happy that I will have a few days off to catch up with everything. Enjoy the weekend!

Lord Hear Our Prayers!

Gracious God, in the busyness of my day, I sometimes forget to stop to thank You for all that is good in my life. My blessings are many and my heart is filled with gratefulness for the gift of living, for the ability to love and be loved, for the opportunity to see the everyday wonders of creation, for sleep and water, for a mind that thinks and a body that feels. I thank you, too, for those things in my life that are less than I would hope them to be. Things that seem challenging, unfair, or difficult. When my heart feels stretched and empty and pools of tears form in my weary eyes, still I rejoice that you are as near to me as my next breath and that in the midst of turbulence, I am growing and learning. In the silence of my soul, I thank you most of all for your unconditional and eternal love. Amen.

Happy Fall Everyone!

It is starting to feel alot like fall here. I love summer, but I am ready for fall. We almost have our home office finished. When we get it totally ready, I will upload a few pictures. We have been very busy this past week and weekend. Lots and lots of volleyball, which we love. Bob and I also have been working a lot lately. Everyone is gearing up for the H1N1. We have a few days at the end of the week for fall break from school. Rachel is going to be shadowing a couple of the girls high schools here. I can't believe that our baby girl will be in high school next year. It seems like yesterday, we brought her home from the hospital. Please continue to pray for my aunt, she is back in the hospital and they told the family that she is in End Stage Congestive Heart Failure. I pray that she can be comfortable and at peace.

Happy Tuesday and Thank God for your many Blessings!

Happy Monday!

It's Monday morning and all is quiet in the Mazzoni house. Bob is at work and Rachel is at school and I am off today. It's just me and Lexie, my four legged baby. We had a great weekend. We played Trivia Night with our friends and had a great time. Yesterday, we really enjoyed the Mazzoni Family Picnic. The weather was a little cool, but it did not rain. We got to see our niece, her baby is due in December about six weeks before our little granddaughter is due. Today's weather is starting to feel a little like fall. I need to start getting my fall decorations out. There is several loads of laundry calling my name. Please continue to pray for my aunt.

It's FRIDAY!!!!!!

I love Fridays! It has been a very busy week in the Mazzoni house. I have worked 4 days this week, which is rare for me. I usually work 2 or 3 max. My house needs cleaning and I have loads and loads of laundry to do. Welcome to the life of a working mom. Volleyball games tomorrow and then Bob and I will be playing in a Trivia Pursuit Night with friends. I guess I need to start studying now. Mazzoni annual family picnic is Sunday. I look forward to seeing many relatives that we only get to see a couple times a year. Please continue to say prayers for my aunt. She was discharged from the hospital yesterday. She is still not doing well and there is nothing left to do but make sure she is comfortable. Enjoy your FRIDAY!

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

It's Wednesday morning. All is good in the Mazzoni household. Lots of volleyball practices, conditioning and volleyball lessons this week. We are in the process of getting our new home office set up. Still waiting for some of the furniture to be delivered. Room is painted and carpet is cleaned. We are very excited about having this new space. I heard from my uncle last night and the news about my aunt is not good. Her heart failure continues to get worse each day. This makes it very hard for the ventilator to work to keep her breathing. The doctors have talked with the family about the possiblities of taking her off her medications and turning her care over to hospice to manage her pain. No final decisions has been made yet. At this time it is in God's hands and I know he will watch over her. I just hope and pray that she is comfortable at this time and not in any pain. Keep her in your prayers. Have a good Wednesday. :-)

Please pray for my aunt.

I want to ask for special prayers for my aunt today. She is 48 years old, 1 year ago she had a lung transplant. She is dependant on a ventilator to breath. She is back in the hospital now in Congestive Heart Failure. Her first and only grandchild just turned 1 year old last week. I hope she gets to see many more birthdays with her granddaughter. I pray that she will make it over this bump in the road.

It's a GIRL!!!!!

It has been a very busy week in the Mazzoni house. Lots and lots of volleyball. Volleyball practice, volleyball lessons and volleyball tournaments. We can never get enough. Also we have had some computer problems this week and we have been limited to one computer in our house and you have to stand in line to use it. Hopefully next week will be better. The best news this week is that my older daughter Ashley just found out this morning the baby she is expecting in January, 2010 is a GIRL! We are so excited, this will be our first GRANDDAUGHTER. We have two grandsons, 6 years old and 3 years old. This little one will be very spoiled and she will have two big brothers to protect her forever. I am looking forward to the weekend. Tomorrow and Sunday, we have volleyball games. Also tomorrow is the big UL and UK football game. If you are from Kentucky, you know this is the big football game of the year. I am a little worried this year. UL is struggling a little. I can always hope for a win. GO CARDS!!!
